ABOUT SHE

In 2019, Jason Greer and Vanessa Cicarelli of Birdy & Bean films approached me about creating a documentary focused on Doe. In early 2020, they optioned the film rights to the book and began filming. The film focuses on the poetry collection as a whole, but features selected poems from the book.

Not long after, Sue Vicory of Heartland Films joined as Executive Producer. And, not long after that, Kate Mulgrew signed on as the film's narrator with a script written by Jaramy Conners and me. Kate is joined by Raven Goodwin who reads poems from Doe through the film. Coco Jones joins her to read a two-part poem, "Here, the heart". Stephanie Quayle , along with Alex Kline, wrote an original song for the film, Jane. The music video was produced by Sue Vicory and Taylor Snyder. The film's score was done by Jackie Lee McLean.
